Corporate history

1970

Daiwa Securities International (H.K.) Limited, 65% owned by Daiwa Securities Co. Ltd. in Japan, was established, and regulated by the Securities and Futures Commission.

1975

The Company was renamed Daiwa Securities (H.K.) Limited.

1982

Daiwa Securities Co. Ltd. became the sole shareholder of the Company.

1994

The Company operated under Daiwa Securities Asia Holdings B.V., which is 100% owned by Daiwa Securities Co. Ltd.

1999

The Company was renamed Daiwa Securities SB Capital Markets Hong Kong Limited, and operated as the new joint venture between Daiwa Securities Group Inc. and Sumitomo Banking Corporation.

2001

Daiwa Securities SB Capital Markets Hong Kong Limited changed its name to Daiwa Securities SMBC Hong Kong Limited, following the merger between Sumitomo Banking Corporation and Sakura Bank Limited, and has been operating since then under Daiwa Securities SMBC Asia Holdings B.V, which is 100% owned by Daiwa Securities SBMC Co. Ltd. ---- a joint venture owned 60% by Daiwa Securities Group Inc. and 40% by the Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, Inc.

2009

Daiwa Securities Group Inc. and the Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, Inc. (“SMFG”) announced to end the joint venture agreement with regard to Daiwa Securities SMBC Co. Ltd. on September 10, 2009.

Daiwa Securities Group acquired all shares of Daiwa Securities SMBC Co. Ltd. held by the SMFG group on December 31, 2009. As a result, all shares of Daiwa Securities SMBC Co. Ltd. were held by Daiwa Securities Group.

2010

Daiwa Securities SMBC Hong Kong Limited was renamed Daiwa Capital Markets Hong Kong Limited with effect from January 4, 2010.

2012

Daiwa Securities Co. Ltd. merged with Daiwa Securities Capital Markets Co. Ltd.
